The sledding in Philly was excellent. The inch of crusty ice was super slick and even small hills led to high speeds. OTOH the driving was horrible.

We have finally had rain in the central valley of CA this weekend, which means, I think, that the Sierras will finally have some snow. We need it, as Shelley suggests!

We got more of a crusting than a dusting. Visually nice, but the sidewalks are slippery now. Nice piece on skiiing in the Spanish Pyrenees in the NYT today. No lift lines, roll out of bed mid-morning, get fresh snow, lunch, ski again, drink, party, run with the bulls, repeat tomorrow.

I heard that you Easterners got a dusting yesterday–it’s been relatively dry and warm here, too, so the snow is good for business out here as well as for future water needs in the summer. But the skiing has been just fine–Copper Mountain was a little sketchy last weekend, but Winter Park/Mary Jane had beautiful snow even before the storm rolled through yesterday.

“‘Tis a privilege to live in Colorado,” as they say.

Z, I did not know that Jan. 22 is blog for choice day. Sunday is usually slow around here (and around most blogs, I’m guessing)–maybe I’ll get something up for tomorrow.

We got about 3+/- inches of crunchy-granola snow late Friday into Saturday. Not what you would call “fluff,” but at least it reflects the light, what there is of it, kind of nicely. Heading west to look for more tomorrow.
