Newsflashes everywhere these days!
- Calling Congresswoman Diana DeGette “Vagina DeGette” doesn’t advance the political discourse. (It does, however, prove that Denver a.m. radio talker Peter Boyles is a jerk, as are his fans–check out the comments in the first linked article. Classy, boys! Super classy. Gee, I wonder why the Republican Party in Colorado makes news these days only when the truly lizard-brained among them say things like this and this?)
- Children settle down and pay attention better in school after recess.
- Eating fewer calories is the key to a successful diet plan.
That is all.

You might add to these news flashes a remarkably stupid article by Daphne Merkin in the current issue of “T”, the New York Times fashion magazine (!), in which she asserts that “lesbianism has finally come into a glamour of its own,” going “beyond butch and femme archetypes.” Apparently she has a crush on Rachel Maddow…

Eeeewww. (The notion that Merkin has a crush on anyone, not that anyone has a crush on Maddow.) Lesbianism as a fashion statement! How clever.

Lesbian fashion statements… I just had to really laugh at this one. Ah the good old days when people feared us ax carrying Amazons out in the world, now they make us into fashion statements! Harumph!

More than 24 hours and no one has made a merkin joke yet? Where are all the early American historians of sexuality?

Ouch, JJO! I considered it, but it seemed too much of a layup. (Well, that and the fact that this is a post suggesting that Peter Boyles is a jerk for calling someone by a private part.)
