Taking your cues from Steve Doocy?

Posted under: American history

Who do you trust as an authority on American history?  The Journal of American History, or Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy?

Man, it’s sad what some people will say to sell a book.  (Fox & Friends!  Come on, Larry–you’re a better media “get” than that.  I saw you interviewed by Pat Robertson a few years ago on CBN, and he was much more intelligent than Doocy.  Although that, admittedly, is not a very high bar to clear.)

Well, thanks for the free laugh of the day!

Ugh — I so rarely actually watch anything from Fox. It is astounding to hear these things, but it seems to be a part of a new Right wing project to control humanities education (Arizona, Georgia, etc).

Conservatives think it’s a grand idea to try to wrest control of academia away from the “liberals” they imagine control it now, until they learn that 1) you have to spend 5-10 years postgrad to earn a Ph.D., 2) you might in fact not get a job at all, after all of that work and sacrifice, and 3) in the event you get a job, the starting salary for an assistant prof in the humanities is in the $50,000 range, and you’re likely to to top out at around $80-100K max.

Most conservatives, being much more ecnomically rational than liberals, say no thanks to that. And they figure that it’s much easier to get elected to the state legistlature and pass all kinds of bogus laws and dubious requirements to drive the poor, dumb, liberal proffies crazy…

Look out guys, I am proof positive that academia is already full of Capitalist Running Dog Lackeys!

Wow, I clicked on “48 Lies that Liberal Tell…” and the sample list was so stupid, I just couldn’t believe a serious person even wrote it!

This is a pretty pathetic attempt by FOX to get the base all riled up yet again. Guess they have to have something new to go on about now that they’ve been kicked out of the White House.
