“Fasten your seatbelts…

Posted under: fluff, women's history

margo-channing2.jpg…it’s going to be a bumpy night.”  Well, I’ll be up late tonight watching the returns from the Florida Republican primary.  (Here’s hoping that primary season ends with a bang a week from today.)

I once taught a four year-old to say that line with pitch-perfect Margo Channing delivery, after she tossed back apple juice from a martini glass.  It was almost as funny as re-enacting with her the scene at the end of Chinatown where Faye Dunaway gets slapped by Jack Nicholson as she cries, “She’s my sister! *slap* She’s my daughter! *slap* She’s my sister AND my daughter!”

That is one bizarre hobby you got there. :)

Now I have to watch Chinatown.

that scene still resonates with me…chinatown is one of those films i remain in awe of.

and equally horrifying is the thought of the florida primaries….i wonder how many election we will allow florida to screw up.

Sorry if I’ve spoiled Chinatown for you, Bing–the slappy scene is kind of the big surprise at the heart of all of the political corruption…don’t invite your niece and nephew over for the show, in any case.

And Adjunct Whore–let’s hope for a quality 3-way slap-fest in Florida tonight between Rudy, McCain, and Willard!

We are all doomed to live the rest of our lives in an endless loop tape of this primary season. Because we’ve sinned. Collectively. As a nation.

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one warped enough to be into the daughter-sister scene in Chinatown, which, BTW, is a movie about Vietnam. I love the scene when Jack (before he became a cartoon of himself) is in bed with Faye Dunaway and they’re talking about how they just don’t understand Chinatown. Or as someone else said, Charlie don’t surf.
